Beanbag posing for Newborn Photography

Newborn photography requires specialized skills and knowledge, particularly when it comes to beanbag posing. Beanbag photography is a versatile posing technique in newborn photoshoots to capture adorable and timeless portraits of a newborn. It is done on a soft plain backdrop with minimal to no props, allowing the babies to relax and be themselves resulting in beautiful, heartwarming images.

Personally, beanbag posing is my favorite and I include it in every single newborn photography session. It provides a cozy and a safe space that allows the little ones to curl into natural poses while highlighting the baby's details like their tiny fingers, cute toes, and delicate features, preserving those fleeting moments for parents to cherish forever.

Although beanbag posing looks simple, the setups offer endless possibilities for creativity, allowing us to experiment with different textures, fabrics, and props to enhance the overall aesthetic and charm of the photos.

Beanbag setups also allow for seamless transitions between poses, providing a smooth and enjoyable experience for both the photographer and the baby, which is why there are several poses in beanbag posing, and I assure you, each of them will definitely make you go aww!

Pose #1 - Tucked-in Pose

The tucked-in pose, just like the name sounds, is the most relaxed pose for a newborn that gently tucks the baby in and creates a lovely look.

Pose #2 - Side Pose

Simple, Natural, and loved by everyone. Side pose is one such pose that also highlights the baby's tiny features and showcases the perfect profile.

"The tiniest little things take up the most room in your heart."

Pose #3 - Bum Up Pose

Flaunting their cute little tushies, bum-up pose is one of the cutest poses of newborn photography ! Needless to mention the adorable baby rolls we get to see in this pose.

Pose #4 - Chin on hands

Posing their chin on hands, hence the name, this pose highlights the baby's facial features like no other pose ! A close-up shot to cherish their tiny little face, which sure changes as they grow.

Document your baby's perfect beauty with these dreamy and whimsical poses that reflect the magic of infancy.

Pose #5 - Huck Finn

I am not quite sure why this pose is named so. But laying on their back, showing off their tiny little fingers and toes, this pose sure makes a portrait charming.

Pose #6 - Taco Pose

Also known as womb pose, this curls up the baby in such a way that they sure would remember how they were when in mama's womb.

Cherish the love that melts your hearts with these darling portraits.

Pose #7 - Froggy

Most adorable, also the most difficult pose. Needs a lot of expertise to achieve this, yet not all babies would be comfortable to be in this pose.

Pose #8 - Back Pose

All curled up on their backs, this pose flaunts the baby's flexibility. This pose shows us how tiny a baby is and how curled up they can get when they are so little.

Pose #9 - Wrapped pose

Wrapping not only keeps the baby cozy and comfortable but also gives us scope to beautify the look of a portrait.

They are this little only for a little while. Cherish those moments with these serene portraits.

Pose #10 - Potato Sack

Bundled up like a potato, this is the most aww-striking pose. The pose that I definitely get an 'awww' from parents and grandparents.

Pose #11 - Black and white

Colors may go out of fashion, themes may get out-dated but black and white is always and always timeless. B/W gives us endless possibilities of creating illusions like baby hanging in the womb, baby being lifted in arms, baby floating in a heart etc.

Beanbag Posing for twins

The posing techniques remains the same for twins. But while posing two babies together, safety and comfort should always be prioritized.

It's crucial to work with experienced photographers who are skilled in handling and posing twin babies to ensure a secure and enjoyable session for everyone involved.

Newborns can be unpredictable, so patience is key. Allow enough time for feeding, soothing, and settling the baby into a comfortable position. Take breaks as needed to ensure the baby remains calm and content throughout the session.

Newborn photography is a wonderful way to capture the innocence and beauty of newborns, creating heartwarming images that celebrate the preciousness and joy that a new baby brings into the world.
